December 22nd, 1997 – NWO Takes Over Nitro
Just six days before one of the biggest PPVs in WCW’s history, Starrcade 1997, where S_ _ _ _ would go on to win the WCW Championship, WCW decided it would be a good idea to spend the first half an hour of Monday Nitro watching the NWO change the WCW set to an NWO-themed one. The experiment, to see if the NWO could sustain their own program, resulted in losing 25% of the audience in the first half of the show (not good). Imagine buying a ticket, and being excited to be at the go-home show of Starrcade, only to essentially watch the entrance ramp be rearranged.
