January 12, 1998 – Mark Henry Joins the Nation and Vince McMahon Teases Tyson

27 years ago today, WWF Raw took place in State College, Pennsylvania, with explosive developments leading into the Royal Rumble. Mark Henry shocked fans by turning heel and joining the Nation of Domination during a tag team match where he teamed with Ken Shamrock against The Rock and D-Lo Brown.

Elsewhere on the show, Vince McMahon teased Mike Tyson’s potential involvement at WrestleMania 14. Additionally, The Rock & Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) were awarded the NWA Tag Team Championships during a segment, adding a unique historical moment to the episode.

AEW Collision was live from the Akins Ford Arena in Athens, GA, broadcast on TNT and simulcast on Max.

  • Opening: Harley Cameron kicked off the show with a guitar performance, taunting Mariah May ahead of their match. May vowed to silence Cameron and deliver a decisive victory.

  • Match: Adam Copeland def. Big Bill
    In a physical encounter, Big Bill dominated with power moves, but Copeland used his veteran instincts, delivering a low blow and a spear before locking in a rear-naked choke for the win. Post-match, The Learning Tree attacked Copeland, but FTR made the save. AEW announced that all parties would be barred from ringside for the main event.

  • Segment: Hangman Page reflected on his recent struggles and declared his intention to punish Christopher Daniels in next week’s Texas Death Match.

  • Match: PAC def. Komander
    Komander dazzled with high-flying offense, but PAC’s brutality won out. PAC blocked a 450 splash and locked in the Brutalizer for the submission win. After the match, PAC refused to release the hold, signaling his intent to dominate.

  • Match: Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta def. The Outrunners
    The Death Riders worked over Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum, finishing the match with a gutwrench superplex and a rocket launcher splash. Claudio voiced his displeasure with Yuta’s performance, teasing dissension.

  • Segment: Will Hobbs sent a chilling message to Jon Moxley, claiming he would make Moxley regret ever underestimating him.

  • Match: Mariah May def. Harley Cameron (Non-Title Match)
    AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Harley Cameron in a competitive match, finishing her with a piledriver.

  • Closing Segment: Chaos erupted after the main event as The Learning Tree attacked Harwood. Copeland and Wheeler tried to even the odds, but the Death Riders and Outrunners joined the melee. Copeland speared PAC, appearing to stand tall, but Jon Moxley ambushed him with a Paradigm Shift. Will Hobbs made the final save, overpowering Moxley and slamming Wheeler Yuta through the commentary table.
