31 years ago today, WWE hosted the Royal Rumble at the Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The event marked a historic moment in Royal Rumble history when, for the first time, two men were declared co-winners. Bret 'Hitman' Hart and Lex Luger both hit the floor simultaneously, sharing the victory and earning their paths to WrestleMania X.
Earlier in the night, Yokozuna retained the WWE Championship against The Undertaker in a chaotic casket match. The champion relied on the help of nearly ten other wrestlers, including Crush, Bam Bam Bigelow, Diesel, and The Headshrinkers, to secure the win. Following the match, The Undertaker delivered an ominous message from a video screen, vowing to return. A dramatic sequence followed as The Deadman appeared to ascend to the heavens, signaling his temporary departure from WWE after an incredible four-year run.
