🗓️ On This Day - 1998

Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie Take a Dumpster Dive

27 years ago today, Monday Night Raw delivered one of its most shocking moments live from Indiana. The night kicked off with a "King of Hardcore" match between Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie (Terry Funk), showcasing brutal back-and-forth action. The chaos escalated when Cactus Jack backdropped Charlie into a dumpster, then climbed atop the TitanTron to deliver a jaw-dropping dive straight into the bin with Charlie still inside.

But the mayhem didn’t stop there. The New Age Outlaws, Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, stormed the scene, viciously tying the dumpster shut before pushing it off the stage with both men trapped inside. Jim Ross’s iconic call, "THERE'S PEOPLE IN THERE! WHAT THE HELL IS SO GREAT ABOUT THAT?!" perfectly captured the horror and disbelief.

In an unforgettable scene, WWF superstars—heels and faces alike—rushed out, furious at The Outlaws. Even Vince McMahon appeared, adding to the gravity of the moment. Backstage, as The Outlaws awkwardly tried to justify their actions, D-Generation X’s Shawn Michaels and Triple H dismissed their concerns with a casual, "suck it up," cementing the segment as an all-time classic.
