The Mega Powers Explode on Prime Time!

36 years ago today, WWF aired The Main Event live from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, showcasing the dramatic breakup of the legendary Mega Powers. In the main event, Hulk Hogan and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage teamed up to face The Twin Towers (Akeem and The Big Boss Man).

During the chaotic match, Akeem threw Savage out of the ring, causing him to crash into Miss Elizabeth at ringside and knocking her unconscious. In a moment that would define their partnership's downfall, Hogan abandoned the match to carry Elizabeth to the back for medical attention. When she regained consciousness, she urged Hogan to return to the ring and help Savage.

Hogan eventually rejoined the match, but Savage, furious at being left alone, refused to tag in. Instead, he slapped Hogan in the face, grabbed his WWF Championship belt, and stormed out, leaving Hogan to defeat The Twin Towers solo.

Backstage, tensions erupted as Savage accused Hogan of coveting both his title and Miss Elizabeth. The heated argument turned physical, with Savage attacking Hogan and officially ending their iconic alliance.

This explosive confrontation set the stage for their legendary clash at WrestleMania V, where former friends became bitter rivals.
