The British Bulldog Becomes the First WWF European Champion

28 years ago today, WWF Monday Night Raw was taped in Europe for the first time, as the company traveled to Berlin, Germany, for a historic event. The show featured the conclusion of a week-long tournament to crown the inaugural WWF European Champion, with The British Bulldog defeating his brother-in-law and World Tag Team Championship partner Owen Hart in the finals.

The WWF European Championship was introduced as part of WWE’s efforts to expand its presence in Europe, and the decision to have Bulldog—one of the most beloved European wrestlers—win the title was widely praised. The match, which took place in front of a raucous Berlin crowd, aired on March 3rd in the United States.

This win added another accolade to Bulldog’s legendary career, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest British wrestlers of all time. The European Championship would go on to be held by legends like Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Eddie Guerrero, and William Regal before being unified with the Intercontinental Championship in 2002.

WWE NXT Results - February 25th, 2025

WWE NXT aired live from the Andrew J Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, on USA Network, featuring championship matches, major showdowns, and the buildup to NXT Roadblock.

Stephanie Vaquer def. Karmen Petrovic to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship. In a competitive opening match, Petrovic pushed Vaquer to her limits, but the champion secured the victory after hitting the SVB. Post-match, Giulia confronted Vaquer, setting up a potential Champion vs. Champion match.

Backstage Segment: Arianna Grace, Santino Marella & Lola Vice. Santino and Arianna discussed the importance of TNA’s first title defense on WWE TV before Lola Vice interrupted, challenging Arianna to a match later in the night.

Moose def. Lexis King to retain the TNA X-Division Championship. King put up a valiant effort, but Moose overpowered him and ended the match with a Spear. After the match, Oba Femi confronted Moose, making their NXT Roadblock title match official.

Shawn Spears Promo. Spears introduced his new faction consisting of Brooks Jensen, Niko Vance, and Izzi Dame, promising to take over NXT and target the North American Championship next week.

Jordynne Grace & Roxanne Perez Segment. Jordynne Grace spoke about her decision to join WWE and her desire to be a champion, leading to a tense confrontation with Roxanne Perez. The two exchanged heated words before Jordynne punched Roxanne, who quickly escaped the ring.

Backstage Segment: Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans & Ricky Saints. Trick dismissed Je’Von’s comparison of their struggles, while Ricky Saints introduced himself. Je’Von and Trick nearly came to blows before being separated.

The Hardy Boyz def. No Quarter Catch Crew. The legendary duo picked up the win after hitting the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb. Post-match, Nathan Frazer and Axiom challenged the Hardyz for the TNA World Tag Team Championship at NXT Roadblock.

Backstage Confrontation: Chelsea Green & Piper Niven vs. Sol Ruca & Zaria. Chelsea insulted Sol and Zaria, prompting Piper to accept a tag team match on her behalf for next week.

Lola Vice def. Arianna Grace. Vice dominated much of the match before sealing the win with The 305.

Backstage Attack: No Quarter Catch Crew. The mysterious rogue group struck again, laying out NQCC in the backstage area.

Ricky Saints & Je’Von Evans def. Ethan Page & Wes Lee. Saints and Evans scored a hard-fought victory after Saints countered Lee’s Kardiak Kick into the Roshambo for the pinfall.

🌟 Wheeler Yuta Reflects on Wrestling Alongside His Idols

Wheeler Yuta shared his surreal experience of working alongside wrestling legends in AEW. "When I look at all these guys they've kind of paired me with, it's crazy to think about. Like I always looked up to Bryan Danielson, like I loved his stuff when he was on the independents, when he was in Ring of Honor, even like in WWE, I loved all that. It was awesome to watch him wrestling, and he was one of the guys that I wanted to emulate and be like. You think of [Jon] Moxley, Claudio [Castagnoli], [William] Regal, these are all guys that I really looked up to."

A backstage AEW Dynamite segment featuring Thunder Rosa, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford reportedly suffered from miscommunication. "According to Fightful Select, AEW sources indicated that this awkwardness would have been the result of a miscommunication from a backstage coach or producer, specifically by not informing the talent involved where they were to be positioned in the segment. The outlet adds that none of the respective women have objections to working with one another."
