AEW Collision Results for April 12th, 2025

Sunday, April 13th, 2025
Good morning. It’s officially the week of WrestleMania and the excitement is real!

Today we look back at ECW’s first-ever pay-per-view, Barely Legal, where Terry Funk shocked the world and Taz finally got his hands on Sabu. Cody Rhodes fired shots at John Cena’s legacy, Becky Lynch says she’s “not wrestling anymore… maybe one day,” and The Rock showed up rocking NJPW gear. Plus, we've got rumors on Alexa Bliss and the Wyatt Sicks, a surprising Hall of Fame update, and much more. Let’s dig in!
🗓️ On This Day - 1997
ECW Goes Barely Legal in a Hardcore Milestone

No Minors - No Exceptions 😂
27 years ago today, ECW held its very first pay-per-view, Barely Legal, live from the legendary ECW Arena in Philadelphia. The night was capped off by a gritty main event where Terry Funk outlasted Raven to become ECW Champion. Funk earned his shot earlier in the night by winning a brutal three-way dance against The Sandman and Stevie Richards.
Elsewhere on the card, The Eliminators defeated The Dudley Boyz to capture the ECW Tag Team Titles, and one of ECW’s most hyped rivalries finally exploded as Taz forced Sabu to tap out after months of build-up and no physical contact. It was a night that proved ECW could deliver on the national stage without losing an ounce of its extreme identity.
This one helped put ECW on the map—bloody, wild, and unforgettable.

AEW Collision Results - April 12th, 2025
Collision aired live from the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA, and featured three Owen Hart Cup quarterfinals, plus FTR’s shocking explanation for their attack on Adam Copeland. The night ended with a hard-hitting war between Konosuke Takeshita and Brody King.
How it started
FTR justified their attack on Adam Copeland — and nearly piledrove Tony Schiavone. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler opened the show by blaming Copeland for being selfish and using them. They claimed they wouldn’t be his new Edgeheads and demanded respect as ten-time champions. When Tony Schiavone pressed them with a question about Harwood’s daughter watching his betrayal, FTR snapped and nearly gave him a spike piledriver. Nigel McGuinness tried to intervene, but it was Daniel Garcia who finally stopped them. FTR apologized — then shoved Garcia without realizing who it was, before quickly hugging him in remorse. The uneasy tension lingered.
How it ended
Konosuke Takeshita def. Brody King — Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal. In a brutal, physical main event, Takeshita and Brody King battered each other with lariats, suplexes, and heavy strikes. King hit a cannonball and a Gonzo Bomb, but Takeshita survived it all. After a series of knee strikes — four in total — Takeshita finally dropped King for the pin to advance to the semifinals against Will Ospreay.

Everything else that happened

Gates of Agony def. Smash & Burn in a quick squash and later called out the Hurt Syndicate for Dynamite.
Anthony Bowens def. Blake Christian in a competitive match, despite interference from Lee Johnson. Bowens used his discus elbow strike to get the win and cut a confident post-match promo about being “The Five Tool Player.”
Megan Bayne def. LMK & Kelly Madan in a dominant 2-on-1 squash. She stacked both opponents for an F5 to seal the victory.
Kevin Knight def. AR Fox after surviving a 450 splash. Knight rallied with a top-rope rana, rolling DDT, and springboard lariat for the win.
FTR def. Daddy Magic & Cool Hand Ang in a violent, bloody beatdown. Daniel Garcia looked on, horrified, as FTR used multiple spike piledrivers. When Garcia pleaded for mercy, they pinned Ang instead — but then attacked Garcia anyway. After two more spike piledrivers, FTR prepared for a third until Adam Cole and Paragon ran in to make the save.
Athena def. Harley Cameron to advance to the semifinals, where she’ll face Mercedes Moné. Athena controlled most of the match and finished Cameron with the O-Face.

WWE News, Rumors & Updates
Cody Rhodes and John Cena's anticipated Undisputed WWE Title match at WrestleMania has an undercurrent of controversy. In a recent SmackDown, Rhodes addressed Cena's recent career downturn, 'John, you’ve known your time is up for quite some time. And that’s why you did what you did.' Cena's singles match victory drought and his need for assistance from Seth Rollins to win the men's Elimination Chamber match have led Rhodes to question his worthiness as a WrestleMania opponent. The possibility of a Rhodes victory over Cena could ring hollow, while a Cena win could be bolstered by the nostalgic charm of his farewell tour.
WrestleMania 41's card is ready, but questions are mounting over the absence of Alexa Bliss and The Wyatt Sicks. Bliss recently returned to WWE after a two-year break and there were speculations of her joining forces with Wyatt Sicks. However, Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp clarified that due to Bo 'Uncle Howdy' Dallas's injury, the group has been kept off TV. 'The Wyatt Sicks might have to wait until after WrestleMania to return as there are too many creative directions to adjust at the time of writing,' Sapp stated. He also added that there are plans to link Bliss with Wyatt Sicks in the future, but no specific plans have been laid out yet.
Becky Lynch, known for her time in WWE, made a statement at The Ultimate Improv Show in Los Angeles that's got everyone buzzing. 'It’s WrestleMania season isn’t it? Look I’m not wrestling anymore... maybe one day — but not right now.' While rumors of Lynch's return have been swirling, especially after her appearance in Netflix's Raw promotion, her recent pursuits in Hollywood suggest a different path. Let's see if 'The Man' comes around or if we should start calling her Rebecca Quin.
Rikishi recently shed some light on his famous Hell in a Cell encounter with The Undertaker during his 'Over the Top' podcast. The notorious moment happened at Armageddon 2000, where Rikishi was thrown off the cage into a truck bed below. "Most definitely, I trust him, I trust Taker without a doubt," Rikishi stated when discussing the trust he had in his opponents. He also revealed his anxiety before the big fall, "So, was I nervous? Yes. Did I think twice about taking that bump? Yes. There was no room for mistake...".
While Lex Luger had expressed a desire for Sting to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame, the role will instead be filled by Diamond Dallas Page. Despite Sting's current contract with AEW, Tony Khan claims 'Sting never asked him' for permission to appear on WWE programming. It's also rumored that WWE may not have reached out either. The choice of DDP is fitting, given his ongoing efforts to help Luger regain his mobility. The ceremony unfolds next Friday, April 18, on the eve of WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

AEW News and Rumors & Updates
Veteran pro wrestler Matt Hardy has expressed his bewilderment at the direction of Jon Moxley's Death Riders storyline in AEW. Despite Moxley's reign of terror and his record fourth AEW World Championship title, Hardy believes the storyline has run its course. On his podcast, the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, he stated, 'I don’t necessarily understand their whole mission at AEW, what are they trying to accomplish?' Hardy has suggested that a fresh direction could reignite AEW's momentum.
Following Wrestling Dontaku, NJPW is gearing up for their Resurgence event on May 9 in Ontario, California. The #1 contendership clash ended in a draw, leading both AZM and Mina Shirakawa to challenge Mercedes Moné for her NJPW Strong Women’s title. The Young Bucks, formerly of Bullet Club, teased a challenge to the faction's War Dogs subgroup. Despite War Dogs numerical advantage, The Bucks dropped hints of a reunion with 'OG friends', hinting at two-time WWE releasees Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows. The only official match scheduled for Resurgence is Moné’s defense against Shirakawa and AZM.
AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone is feeling nostalgic for wrestling's house shows, lamenting their decline on a recent episode of 'What Happened When'. 'I miss the house shows,' Schiavone confessed. 'It's a different vibe to it, a lot of excitement. The guys approach it differently. It's one of them lost arts, man.' House shows have traditionally offered a more intimate setting and a chance for wrestlers to engage more directly with fans and hone their skills. Meanwhile, WWE continues to host house shows across Europe, featuring a blend of talents from 'WWE SmackDown' and 'WWE Raw.'
