AEW Dynamite Results for April 3rd, 2025

Thursday, April 3rd, 2025

Good morning. Today we have a lookback at WrestleMania XXVII when The Miz was still a star, AEW Dyanmite results, a new WrestleMania IX documentary coming out, and rumors about Miro returning to WWE. Plus AEW All In starting super early, a look back at a 1 year old tweet, and much more. But before we dig in…

Super Eyepatch Wolf dropped a new video yesterday, The Unreality of Pro Wrestling: FINISH THE STORY. I’ve mentioned a few of his other videos here before, specifically The Unreality of Pro Wrestling, which is the best coverage of Roman Reigns career in the WWE I’ve ever seen. He also has videos covering, The Undertaker: Long Term Story Telling in Wrestling, and Villains in Wrestling: Making People Hate You - both really well done!

I’m watching the new video as I put this together and so far, it’s extremely well done! It seems like a continuation of The Unreality of Pro Wrestling Highly, so if you haven’t watched that one yet you can just check out the new one.

🗓️ On This Day - 2011

The Rock Returns as Host at WrestleMania XXVII

14 years ago today, WrestleMania XXVII took place in Atlanta, Georgia, drawing an announced crowd of 71,617 and featuring the highly anticipated return of The Rock as the host of the event. While The Miz successfully retained the WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event, it was The Rock’s involvement that stole the spotlight—intervening after a double count-out and restarting the match, ultimately costing Cena the victory.

The night also marked the final match of Edge’s career before his sudden retirement due to a neck injury. He defeated Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, only to vacate the title shortly after. Edge would eventually make a triumphant return at the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Other highlights included The Undertaker defeating Triple H in a brutal No Holds Barred match to extend his undefeated WrestleMania streak to 19-0, Cody Rhodes scoring a win over Rey Mysterio, and Randy Orton defeating CM Punk. The show also featured a celebrity appearance from Jersey Shore’s Snooki, who teamed with Trish Stratus and John Morrison to win a six-person tag match. Michael Cole controversially defeated Jerry Lawler by disqualification in Lawler’s only WrestleMania match, with Stone Cold Steve Austin serving as special referee.

❄️ Winter Madness 🏆

The Elite Eight Ten

Welcome to Winter Madness, where we’re on a mission to crown the most popular WWE star across Morning Dirt Sheet! Every day, two legends step into the spotlight, but only one can advance.

Yesterday (3) Seth Rollins and (6) Bray Wyatt proved once again that neither will go down, and (2) Cody Rhodes joined them, as they all tied! We went from a triple-threat match turning The Sweet Sixteen into The Sweet Seventeen, and now we will turn The Elite Eight into The Elite Ten! For their Fatal 4-Way should we throw a McMahon in every corner? I’ll no longer count votes for this matchup moving forward, so this is locked in!

Today we start the next round to see who from The Golden Era will represent the era in The Final Four (or maybe Five at this point) as The Nature Boy (2) Ric Flair takes on  (5) Macho Man Randy Savage!

⬇️ Vote for the wrestler you want to see advance!

Death Riders Destroy Swerve Strickland in Final Angle. Before the attack, Swerve confronted Renee Paquette, only for “Hangman” Adam Page to intercept him. As they bickered about their past, Strickland said, “I deserved to have my house burned down.” The line left Hangman stunned, and he walked away. Moments later, the Death Riders ambushed Swerve, powerbombing him into broken glass. In a shocking moment, Strickland sat up through the pain, defiant with shards of glass in his back as the show ended.

WWE News, Rumors & Updates

Wrestling fans, mark your calendars! A new documentary titled “WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle” will be hitting Peacock on April 11. The documentary will take us back to WWE's 1993 Las Vegas event, promising behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with wrestling legends like The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and Bret Hart. The film will revisit iconic moments, including the controversial main event where Hogan won the World Championship in a surprise match against Yokozuna, after Bret Hart's defeat.

After a five-year hiatus, Miro, previously known as Rusev, is set to return to WWE. The former AEW star was reportedly spotted at WWE headquarters, finalizing his new contract. Miro's previous tenure with WWE saw him winning the United States Championship three times, yet his main event breakthrough remained elusive. His departure from AEW comes after a request for release, following a declining match count post losing the TNT Championship. However, his wife CJ Perry's status with WWE remains unconfirmed.

After losing her NXT Women's Championship to Stephanie Vaquer amidst injury rumors, Giulia has been off the grid. It's now confirmed that the former champ has been spending time at the WWE Performance Center, although not participating in physical activities. Official reports of an ankle injury are still unconfirmed, but WWE is hopeful for Giulia's return to the ring. Prior to her injury, Giulia started 2025 with a bang by winning the NXT Women's Championship and making a surprise appearance in the women's Royal Rumble match.

Despite Ricky Saints' championship victory, the April 1 episode of WWE NXT drew its smallest audience of 2025, with 650,000 viewers and a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is a 12% decrease from the previous Tuesday, marking a new low for NXT in 2025. Programming Insider reports no significant competition on the night, suggesting a generally slow evening for television. The upcoming Stand & Deliver event may impact future ratings.

Chelsea Green, the first-ever Women's United States Champion, recently shared insights on a major WWE creative change. In an interview with Click and Tell, Green revealed that her championship win was originally planned for Survivor Series 2024, a show close to her hometown with her family attending. "So, when it was taken away from me, I was heartbroken," she said. However, the shift to Long Island, her husband's hometown, still made for a "perfect moment" with her family and in-laws present, and an enthusiastic crowd chanting her name.

AEW News and Rumors & Updates

AEW All In Texas is hitting the mat earlier than anticipated, with a start time of 3 p.m. ET, reported by The Dallas Morning News. The week's full schedule includes Dynamite and a special edition Collision from the Curtis Culwell Center and ROH Death Before Dishonor at ESports Stadium. "All Elite Wrestling and REV Entertainment announced that tickets for AEW All In: Texas are on sale now!" The event, airing live on pay-per-view, is a historic first for AEW and Globe Life Field. Concurrently, a special celebration for Jim Ross' 50-year career is being teased by Starrcast organizer Conrad Thompson.

AEW president Tony Khan highlighted the significance of getting AEW’s shows on Max during the company's recent deal with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). As part of the $555 million deal, Dynamite and Collision will be available on the Max streaming service. “A huge piece of it is the simulcast...It’s going to be great for everyone involved. There will be AEW fans coming to Max to watch these shows, and we’re still going to bring the same great audience to TBS and TNT, week in and week out”, Khan said. The inclusion has reportedly led to an increase in viewership for AEW.

AEW enthusiasts are in for a treat as the much-anticipated match between Mercedes Mone and Athena is expected to happen way sooner than expected. Both champions, known for their respective impressive reigns, have been confirmed to be part of the upcoming Owen Hart Cup. While initial speculations suggested a possible face-off at All In Texas, new creative suggestions for that show have emerged. Whether the duo will meet at Dynasty on April 6 remains unconfirmed, but fans can certainly look forward to their clash in the near future.
