Stone Cold Reunites with the Smoking Skull Belt

26 years ago today, WWF presented the very first Backlash pay-per-view live from Providence, Rhode Island. In the explosive main event, Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Rock in a wild WrestleMania XV rematch to retain the WWF Championship. After the bout, Vince McMahon returned Austin’s iconic Smoking Skull belt in a memorable post-match moment. The night also saw Mankind defeat The Big Show in a chaotic Boiler Room Brawl, The Undertaker take down Ken Shamrock, and Triple H pick up a singles win over X-Pac. The New Age Outlaws also triumphed over Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart to earn a shot at the WWF Tag Team Championships. This show marked the final PPV to use the ‘In Your House’ branding.

WWE News, Rumors & Updates
Logan Paul defended his selective WWE schedule at the WrestleMania 41 post-show press conference. He hit back at critics suggesting he's taking spots from more deserving Superstars, stating, 'I’m available. I’m here. I signed up to be a WWE superstar...I put on five star matches every single time.' Paul also revealed that Steve Austin turned down a $1 million proposal to appear at WrestleMania dressed as a Prime bottle.
YouTuber Logan Paul's WWE Hall of Fame induction seems to be a sure thing, according to Stephanie McMahon. In a recent vlog, Paul shared his WrestleMania weekend experiences, including a conversation with McMahon. 'You're so talented. Yeah, you just have to not give up, right? I think it will definitely happen,' she assured him. Despite being a 'boo-able' character, McMahon emphasized the importance of fan engagement and assured Paul his journey was on the right track.
Following an intensely physical showdown at WrestleMania 41, Bianca Belair has confirmed suffering a broken finger. Despite the high-profile loss to Iyo Sky, Belair remains optimistic, stating: "Think I broke a finger. My fingers hurt, my feelings hurt. Nah, I’m so happy right now, that was amazing." She also congratulated Sky, but made it clear that her rivalry with Rhea Ripley is far from over.
WWE has a surprising tag team pitch: John Cena and Hip Hop star Travis Scott. Fans are questioning Scott's involvement in Cena's storyline, especially after their controversial WrestleMania 41 encounter. 'I’ve been informed that there is a pitch for John Cena and Travis Scott to work a tag team match together at some point this year. Nothing concrete as of right now,' says Cory Hays of PWN reports. Meanwhile, Cena's vow to retire as champion was cut short by a sneak attack from Randy Orton, setting up a potential match at Backlash.
Dominik Mysterio, who recently won his first Intercontinental Title, has responded to speculation about a potential shift from heel to face. During an interview with CBS Sports, Mysterio expressed his willingness to adapt to the company's needs: 'Whatever the company wants, I’m here for them... whatever is best for business is going to happen.' However, his recent jab at his father, Rey Mysterio, suggests that the fans' love might be hard-earned.
Despite fans' criticism of his WrestleMania 41 match with Randy Orton, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry remains unfazed. 'If this is being buried, keep it coming,' Hendry told Ariel Helwani, underlining the 'fun' factor of the match. Highlighting the importance of professionalism, he expressed gratitude for sharing the ring with Orton at his 20th WrestleMania. Hendry asserted the match went as planned and showed his reliability in the ring.

AEW News and Rumors & Updates
This week's AEW Dynamite left fans with mixed feelings. Highlights included MJF's continued shakedowns which 'continue to make me chuckle', an assured banger in the Women's Owen final, and Ricochet's enigmatic scissor antics. However, Toni Storm's limited screen-time left fans wanting more. An overcrowded ring during the tag team match between Ospreay & King and Alexander & Takeshita was also a cause for concern. Lastly, the stipulation season seems to be hindering a potential mega-fight between Moxley and Samoa Joe.
Mark Briscoe has a new theory about Ricochet's recent bitterness in AEW. After Briscoe's victory on Dynamite, he shared his thoughts on Ricochet's apparent hair-related woes: 'Ricochet, this bitterness has entered your soul ever since your follicles of hair have just abandoned you... Don’t be mad at me, man.' Briscoe also cheekily mentioned that Ricochet might need his $400,000 to consult with Hair Club for Men's Sy Sperling.
On last night's AEW Dynamite, MJF's attempt to bribe his way into The Hurt Syndicate took a turn. Offering up his luxury car for Bobby Lashley's approval, MJF was left in the dust as Lashley sped away with his vehicle. Tempers flared but settled again when MJF announced he won't be pressing charges for Bob’s crime. With this speed bump in his plan, wrestling fans are left wondering: what will MJF try next to win Lashley's vote?
The AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournament has its final contenders ready for a showdown. Mercedes Mone and Jamie Hayter are set to clash for the first time in the ring, after decisive victories on the Spring Breakthru and April 23rd edition of Dynamite respectively. Meanwhile, the men's tournament saw Will Ospreay emerge victorious, with his final opponent yet to be determined. The winners will compete for a world championship at All In Texas in July.
