Goldberg Captures Gold, Hogan Reclaims the Throne

26 years ago today, WCW Monday Nitro aired live from the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado, just one night after Spring Stampede. In a night full of major title changes, Goldberg extended his undefeated streak to 75-0 by defeating Raven to win the WCW United States Championship—his first title in WCW.

In the main event, Hulk Hogan defeated “Macho Man” Randy Savage in a No Disqualification match to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, just 24 hours after Savage had captured the title at Spring Stampede. The win kicked off Hogan’s fifth reign with the WCW title, further intensifying the power struggle between the NWO factions. It’s wild how quickly title reigns could come and go during peak WCW.

WWE NXT Stand & Deliver Results - April 19th, 2025

Live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NXT presented its biggest card of the year with every title on the line and major shakeups throughout the brand. The afternoon show featured eight main card matches, three title changes, and a shocking betrayal.

Gigi Dolin & Tatum Paxley win Women's Tag Title #1 Contender Match. Dolin and Paxley outlasted three other teams—Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade, Fatal Influence, and Meta-Girls—in a wild elimination match. Paxley secured the win with Cemetery Drive on Jacy Jayne, earning a title shot.

Ricky Saints (c) def. Ethan Page – North American Championship. Saints retained his title after a hard-fought battle against Ethan Page, surviving an Ego’s Edge and landing a spear followed by the Roshambo for the victory.

Hank and Tank def. Fraxiom (c) – NXT Tag Team Championship. The underdog team of Hank Walker and Tank Ledger pulled off the upset of the night. After a chaotic and evenly matched bout, they hit an assisted powerslam on Nathan Frazer to win the gold.

Sol Ruca wins NXT Women’s North American Championship Ladder Match. Ruca defeated Zaria, Kelani Jordan, Thea Hail, Izzi Dame, and Lola Vice in a brutal six-woman ladder match. After surviving several big falls and signature spots, she hit double Sol Snatchers and climbed the ladder to win her first singles title.

Darkstate def. The D’Angelo Family. After a chaotic six-man tag, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo turned on Tony D’Angelo with a low blow and handed him to Darkstate for a tossing triple powerbomb. The betrayal stunned the crowd and left Tony’s faction in shambles.

Stephanie Vaquer (c) def. Giulia, Jordynne Grace, and Jaida Parker – NXT Women’s Championship. Vaquer retained her title in a fast-paced fatal four-way, fending off offense from Giulia, Parker, and Grace. After a Spiral Tap and her signature SBB underhook driver, she pinned Jaida Parker to stay champion.

Oba Femi (c) def. Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans – NXT Championship. In a thrilling main event, the Ruler overcame both challengers in a match full of big power moves and near-finishes. Je’Von Evans nearly stole the show with a Spiral Tap, but Femi hit Fall From Grace on him for the pin and retained the NXT Championship.

Post-show Angle: Roxanne Perez confronts Stephanie Vaquer. Backstage after the show, Roxanne Perez attacked Vaquer during her photo shoot and demanded a title shot, setting up a future rivalry.

Night 1 Results - April 19th, 2025

WrestleMania 41 Night 1 took place from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, kicking off with a high-energy card that saw five title matches, surprise appearances, a shocking submission finish, and major moments for stars on the rise and legends alike.

Jey Uso def. GUNTHER (c) – World Heavyweight Championship. In the opening bout, Jey Uso overcame GUNTHER’s brutal offense in a hard-hitting war. After surviving multiple powerbombs and a Gojira Clutch, Jey used his own version of the clutch to submit GUNTHER and capture his first World Heavyweight title. Post-match, he celebrated with his brother “Big” Jim Uso in the crowd.

New Day def. War Raiders (c) – World Tag Team Championship. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods won their first tag titles in years after a chaotic and physical encounter. With a double stomp and lateral press on Ivar, assisted by Kingston, New Day dethroned the War Raiders to become the new champs.

Jade Cargill def. Naomi. Cargill picked up her biggest WWE win yet in a fast-paced bout with Naomi. Despite Naomi’s innovative offense and a close nearfall off a moonsault, Jade rallied back with an electric chair powerbomb and Jaded to get the win.

Jacob Fatu def. LA Knight (c) – United States Championship. The Samoan Werewolf took down LA Knight in a wild match that saw both men trade big bombs and counters. Fatu sealed the victory—and the title—after multiple moonsaults. WWE legend Haku joined him in the ring to celebrate.

El Grande Americano def. Rey Fenix. With Rey Mysterio pulled due to injury, Rey Fenix stepped in but came up short against the masked villain. After Fenix hurt his foot trying Goodbye Amigo on a loaded mask, Americano locked in an ankle lock and later used the same loaded mask for a diving headbutt to win the match.

Tiffany Stratton (c) def. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Championship. In one of the night’s most competitive matches, Stratton survived an Avalanche Natural Selection and reversed a figure-four sequence into an Alabama Slam and Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the pinfall victory. Stratton retained her title, solidifying herself on the biggest stage.

Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Honored. As is tradition, the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class was introduced on stage to the crowd, including headliner Triple H.

Seth Rollins def. Roman Reigns and CM Punk. In a heated triple-threat match that featured Roman Reigns power bombing both CM Punk and Seth Rollins through both announce tables, it was Paul Heyman who ultimately decided the match. After first turning on CM Punk to align with Roman Reigns, Heyman then turned on Reigns to align with Seth Rollins and give him a chair which would ultimately decide the match.
