WrestleMania Stage Is Huge 😳, Tom Brady Surprise? 🏈, Triple H on Punk 🎙️,

Monday, April 14th, 2025

Good morning. We’re just days away from WrestleMania 41, and the energy is building. Tom Brady might be showing up, Tiffany Stratton’s out to steal the show, and Tony Khan is reflecting on AEW’s most humbling moments. Triple H opened up about working with CM Punk, while on Reddit, fans are buzzing about Mami, Mania’s massive stage, and some teases from Nic Nemeth. Plus, we look back at the day WCW made a rare move into WWE’s backyard — and much more. Let’s dig in!

🗓️ On This Day - 1993

WCW Takes a Swing at New York City

$19.00 for a ticket - now that gets you a 🍺

32 years ago today, WCW made a bold move by running its first-ever event in New York City—right next door to WWE’s home turf. With Vince McMahon distracted by legal troubles in the early ’90s, WCW slipped into the Paramount Theatre (also known as the Felt Forum), a smaller venue connected to Madison Square Garden. Though it wasn’t the main arena, it was a symbolic statement. Unfortunately for WCW, the show fell flat. The company drew only around 2,900 paid fans and was met with chants of “We want Flair!” after announcing Ric Flair wouldn’t be appearing as advertised.

The card featured major stars like Sting, who defeated Big Van Vader by DQ in the main event, and a wild mix of names like Rick Rude, Cactus Jack, Dustin Rhodes, The Hollywood Blonds, and a no-contest between Chris Benoit and Ron Simmons. Verne Gagne even sat ringside to watch the crowd turn on the product.

WWE News, Rumors & Updates

Is a football legend set to hit the wrestling ring? Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl champion, hinted at a potential appearance at WWE's WrestleMania 41. "I may be there," Brady shared, expressing admiration for WWE. This isn't Brady's first dance with wrestling; Cody Rhodes invited him to WrestleMania 39, suggesting a possible WWE career for the retired NFL star. With WrestleMania 41 taking place at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders (a team Brady has ownership in), his presence could create quite the stir.

John Bradshaw Layfield, WWE Hall of Famer, recently debunked rumors of Vince McMahon seriously considering giving the Monday Night Raw TV slot to WCW after buying the company in 2001. Speaking on the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL stated, "I always knew Vince would change his mind... I don’t believe any of that. I believe Vince said it, and I heard him talk about it." JBL also discussed why the much-anticipated WCW invasion storyline didn't meet expectations, citing the absence of WWE's top names early on as a significant factor.

Tiffany Stratton is gearing up for WrestleMania and she's on a mission to steal the show. After a tumultuous feud with Charlotte Flair that saw the pair go off-script, Stratton hopes to make a memorable mark on the event. She told Jan Murphy of the Toronto Sun, "So, my plan is to go in and steal the show. I want people to remember the match, and I want my match to go down in history as one of the best women’s matches." Despite previous on-air issues, recent SmackDown segments have been well-received, signifying a positive shift in their rivalry.

WWE has stirred the pot with its ranking of the top 25 WrestleMania title changes, leaning heavily into recency bias and sparking fan debates. 'The list immediately lost credibility by opening with three laughable and forgettable title changes,' says the author, citing examples such as Rob Gronkowski's 24/7 Championship win at WrestleMania 36. Fans are also questioning snubs like the British Bulldogs' tag team win at WrestleMania 2 and Steve Austin's historic win over The Rock at WrestleMania X-Seven.

Jacob Fatu's journey from Major League Wrestling to WWE has been nothing short of spectacular. Despite a rocky start in life, Fatu's decision to train as a professional wrestler under his uncle proved to be a life-changing one. He's now recognized as the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in MLW's history. After making a powerful debut in WWE, Fatu quickly became a fan-favorite. He recalled his decision to join wrestling during his jail time, 'They were flipping through the channel and I saw my brothers and them, I think that's kind of why I made my mind up.' Fatu's evolution from a troubled past to a promising future in WWE, as the Samoan Werewolf, continues to inspire many.

Triple H recently shed light on his current relationship with CM Punk, and how they've managed to navigate creative differences. 'We've had a couple of moments since his return...it was like a paradigm shift for us relationship-wise, and now, sitting down and being collaborative with CM Punk is one of my favorite things in TV because he shares a very similar view at the end of the day of the business as I do,' Triple H said. This newfound collaboration appears to be working well, as Punk is set to headline WrestleMania 41.

Despite recent controversies involving former WWE boss Vince McMahon, including a sexual abuse lawsuit and a 'ring boy' lawsuit, the 'Dark Side of the Ring' series has yet to feature him. Producer Evan Husney explained in a Sportskeeda Wrestling interview that the ongoing nature of these stories makes it challenging to effectively cover them. 'Honestly, my thought about it has always been, with any of these stories, is they’re not done being told yet. They’re still unfolding.' Husney also voiced concerns about potentially exploiting the unfolding situation, highlighting the importance of patience and respect in storytelling.

AEW News and Rumors & Updates

AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru is gearing up for an action-packed show on April 16. Among the highlights, Hurt Syndicate will be defending their tag title against the Gates of Agony. 'Two teams that like to hurt people,' is how the showdown is being framed. This follows a challenge Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona issued after their recent victory. Alongside this, Jon Moxley is up for the trios titles defense, and three Owen Hart Cup tournament matches are scheduled, one featuring a women’s dream match. A programming note to remember - AEW Collision Spring BreakThru now airs live on April 17, not the usual Saturday slot.

AEW proprietor Tony Khan reflects on the challenges of managing a wrestling promotion during a post-AEW Dynasty media scrum. He recalled the death of Brodie Lee in 2020 and Jay Briscoe in 2023 as humbling experiences, leading to a tribute show for Lee and complications with Warner Brothers over Briscoe's controversial past. 'These are, for different reasons...both because they put everything into perspective, and they were the two most challenging situations I've ever been involved in,' Khan said, acknowledging the clarity the tragedies brought to his wrestling perspective.

The AEW Owen Hart Cup women's tournament is heating up with a star-studded final four. Following Athena's victory over Harley Cameron and Jamie Hayter's win against Billie Starkz, the semifinal pairings are set. Hayter will face Kris Statlander, and Athena will square off with Mercedes Moné. The CEO praised Athena's skills, but believes Moné is the one to beat. 'The Forever Champ doesn’t compare to Four Belts Moné. This is a speed bump on the track of success to collecting all the women’s gold in AEW,' she said. Athena responded with a bold prediction, stating: 'The spoiler alert is that the Fallen Goddess will embarrass the CEO. Hell hath no fury like Athena scorned.'
