The Rock vs. Hollywood Hogan Creates an Iconic WrestleMania Moment

23 years ago today, WrestleMania X8 took place in front of 68,237 fans at the SkyDome in Toronto, Canada. While the main event saw Triple H defeat Chris Jericho to win the WWE Undisputed Championship, the night was defined by the legendary clash between The Rock and “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan. The Toronto crowd completely embraced Hogan despite his heel status, leading to an unforgettable double turn, with The Rock playing the villain and Hogan walking out as a hero once again.

Elsewhere on the card, The Undertaker extended his WrestleMania streak to 10-0 with a victory over Ric Flair, and Rob Van Dam defeated William Regal in the opening match to capture the Intercontinental Championship. This was also the last WrestleMania under the WWF name, as the company officially rebranded to WWE later that year.
