Let's dig in!
🗓️ On This Day - 2000
David Arquette Wins the WCW World Title!

25 years ago today, one of the most infamous moments in wrestling history took place at a WCW Thunder taping in Syracuse, New York. Actor David Arquette, fresh off the success of Scream 3, became WCW Champion by pinning Eric Bischoff during a tag match where whoever scored the fall would win the title.
Although Arquette was a lifelong wrestling fan and initially objected to the idea, he ultimately agreed under pressure to promote the Ready to Rumble movie and help boost WCW’s sagging ratings. Script-writer Vince Russo believed Arquette's crossover appeal could attract mainstream attention during WCW’s ratings war with WWF. Instead, the move was widely panned by fans and remains one of the most controversial decisions in wrestling history.

WWE SmackDown Post WrestleMania Results - April 25th, 2025
WWE SmackDown aired live from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, with major fallout from WrestleMania 41.
John Cena and Randy Orton Face Off. John Cena demanded a corrected introduction but was interrupted by Randy Orton. Orton urged Cena to return to his old self, while Cena berated the fans and Orton. Cena refused Orton’s challenge for the WWE Undisputed Championship tonight but agreed to a match at Backlash. After Cena tried to attack, Orton countered with an RKO and held up the title.
Nathan Frazer & Axiom def. Los Garza. Frazer and Axiom defeated Angel & Berto in a fast-paced tag match, capped by a Spanish Fly and Phoenix Splash combination.
Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, and Naomi Collide. Tiffany Stratton bragged about retaining her WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. Jade Cargill confronted her, leading to an impromptu match. Cargill had the upper hand until Naomi attacked her, causing a no contest. Afterward, Nia Jax attacked Stratton and stood tall with the title.
Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa Tension. Fatu took credit for his own U.S. Title win, frustrating Sikoa. LA Knight and Drew McIntyre interrupted, both demanding title shots. Nick Aldis booked Knight vs. McIntyre to determine a No. 1 contender.

📝 Backstage Report On Bayley's WWE Contract Following WrestleMania 41 Removal
Bayley's sudden departure from WrestleMania 41 stirred up questions about her WWE contract. However, Fightful Select reports Bayley signed a new deal with WWE around late 2023 or early 2024, although the contract's length remains unclear. Being replaced by Becky Lynch in the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship didn't stem from injury, but a preplanned decision. Despite the shake-up, Chief Content Officer Triple H praised Bayley as a valuable team player for the women's division.
💪 Triple H Credited For Giving WWE Women A Chance
Former WWE women’s champion Paige credits Triple H for boosting the profile of women's wrestling. She recalls 'Triple H was a really good boss in NXT, and I enjoyed him running it. He gave girls a lot of time, a lot of freedom, and he helped usher in the revolution too.' Paige also highlighted how Triple H's encouragement for daring moves like suplexes from the top rope set a new standard for women's matches. She ended her tribute saying 'I'm really thankful for him. I really am.'
🔥 Cena vs. Orton for the WWE championship is happening one last time at Backlash
On last night's SmackDown, John Cena and Randy Orton set the stage for an epic showdown at Backlash. After a fiery exchange, Cena challenged Orton to a title match in the latter's hometown of St. Louis. Orton, defending his wrestling heritage, didn't shy away, accepting the challenge. 'It will be over my dead body that John ruins it all,' asserted Orton. A few minutes later, WWE made the title match official, setting the main event for Backlash.
🏋️ Backstage News On Whether WWE Will Reunite Former AEW Tag Champs Penta & Rey Fenix
When ex-AEW star Rey Fenix debuted in WWE, fans wondered if he'd reunite with his brother and tag team partner, Penta. Now, it appears the reunion of the former AEW Tag Team Champions is on the cards. 'WWE will absolutely unite both brothers on-screen in the near future', says Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp. The Lucha Brothers, who have won virtually every tag team championship in the industry, are expected to aim for the WWE Tag Team Championships next.
🚫 WWE suspends Gunther indefinitely
Gunther has been suspended indefinitely from WWE following his attack on the announce team during Raw After ‘Mania Monday. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee were on the receiving end of the Austrian's wrath after Cole praised new champion Jey Uso. Despite McAfee's swift recovery, red brand General Manager Adam “Scrap Iron” Pearce deemed Gunther's actions 'reprehensible and disgusting' and has subsequently fined him an undisclosed amount. This could potentially pave the way for a future McAfee/Gunther bout.
💸 Logan Paul: WWE Legend Turned Down Million Bucks To Be In PRIME Bottle At WrestleMania
Logan Paul revealed on the 'Impaulsive' podcast that WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin turned down a million-dollar offer to appear as the PRIME Hydration mascot at WrestleMania 41. Instead of taking the PRIME bottle gig, Austin had an ATV mishap that knocked down a ringside barricade, and a fan. 'Bro, we offered Steve a million dollars to be the PRIME bottle. He didn't do it, so instead he ran a poor woman over with an ATV,' Paul said. Meanwhile, Paul defeated AJ Styles thanks to distractions from Karrion Kross and a member of his own crew.

AEW News and Rumors & Updates
🎙️ Seems like Excalibur was wrong about AEW Beach Break

The buzz hit a high note on the WrestleVotes Radio show, where it was revealed that WWE is set to make an 'outstanding offer' to lure the star. 💪 AEW Star Hits Back At Retirement Speculation
AEW's MVP is rejecting retirement rumors and insists he still has some fight left in him. Despite wrestling less often these days, the star of The Hurt Syndicate is not ready to hang up his boots. During a recent chat on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he humorously shared, 'No, not yet. I got a little bit left in me... Shelton said, ‘Are you ever gonna tag out?’ I’m like ‘Oh yeah, maybe I should’.' MVP admits he's contemplating his retirement match but is still eager to demonstrate his in-ring prowess.
🩹 AEW's Brian Cage Reportedly Dealing With More Severe Injury Than Expected
AEW's Brian Cage, one half of the Murder Machines, is facing a more severe injury than initially thought. After tearing his quad at an indie show, Cage was replaced in the AEW Tag Team Titles challenge at AEW Dynasty.
