We’ve also got results from NXT’s Stand & Deliver go-home show, a preview of AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru, and the final matchup of our Winter Madness tournament. 🗓️ On This Day - 2000
Spring Stampede Reboots WCW with New Champions Across the Board
24 years ago today, WCW hit the reset button with Spring Stampede 2000 live from the United Center in Chicago. Following Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo’s dramatic return the week prior, all WCW titles had been vacated and storylines reset, making this one of the most chaotic pay-per-views in company history.
In the main event, Jeff Jarrett defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the vacant WCW World Heavyweight Championship, with DDP’s wife Kimberly shockingly turning on him to side with the heel Millionaire’s Club faction. Scott Steiner captured the United States Title in a one-night tournament, beating Sting in the finals after surviving a field that included Booker T, Vampiro, and Mike Awesome. Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell became new Tag Team Champions after defeating Harlem Heat 2000 in the semis and then Ric Flair and Lex Luger’s Team Package in the final.
This event was meant to symbolize a fresh start for the company—but in hindsight, it marked the beginning of WCW's most infamous creative spiral.

Welcome to Winter Madness, where we’re on a mission to crown the most popular WWE star across Morning Dirt Sheet! Every day, two legends step into the spotlight, but only one can advance.
We started this tournament on February 4th and after more than two months, here we are. From 64 WWE Superstars, we're down to just 2: (1) Stone Cold Steve Austin representing The Attitude Era, and (1) John Cena representing The Modern Era! Along the way, we had upsets—like (13) X-Pac knocking out (4) Mr. McMahon in the first round—and chaos, with (6) Mankind stunning (2) The Rock. We even had (3) Seth Rollins and (6) Bray Wyatt tie twice, leading to the tournament’s only Triple Threat and Fatal Four-Way matches. It’s been quite the ride, and I hope you’ve all enjoyed it as much as I have.

Stand & Deliver Go-Home
NXT aired live from the Performance Center in Orlando, FL, as Stand & Deliver nears. The show featured two #1 contender’s matches, the final women’s ladder match qualifiers, and a showdown between Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and NXT Champion Oba Femi.
How it started
Ethan Page won a Fatal 4-Way to earn a North American title shot.
The show kicked off fast with a #1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way between Ethan Page, Wes Lee, Eddy Thorpe, and Lexis King. Ricky Saints joined commentary but got pulled into the match when Page threw Thorpe into him. After a referee ejection and a chaotic closing stretch, Ethan hit the Twisted Grin on King to secure a title shot at Stand & Deliver. Saints responded by Spearing him post-match.
How it ended
Je’Von Evans stands tall and raises the title.
In the final segment, Trick Williams declared he’s ready to reclaim the crown, but was interrupted by champion Oba Femi and then Je’Von Evans. Tensions boiled over as insults flew, ending in a chaotic brawl. Trick and Oba briefly teamed up to take out Evans—until Je’Von sprang back with a picture-perfect springboard ace crusher to lay both out and hold the NXT title high.

The D’Angelo Family brawled with Dark State in the parking lot, with Luca Crucifino being slammed onto a car hood.

In a historic first, Naomi and Jade Cargill will face off in a non-title singles match at WrestleMania 41. The feud is rooted in betrayal and violence, going back to Cargill's WWE arrival from AEW. After a series of tag team victories, the relationship soured when Naomi admitted to sidelining Cargill, leading to an intense rivalry. Their match is set to be an emotional high point of WrestleMania 41.
Despite two previous refusals, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther finally accepted WWE's offer, thanks to William Regal's persuasion. 'Come over, you can make money here,' Regal convinced him. Gunther was adamant about maintaining his own identity, not wanting to portray someone else's fantasy. He appreciated NXT's allowance for him to do so while staying in Europe. Additionally, the financial aspect played a significant role in his decision, as well as the lack of other appealing options.
Revisiting WrestleMania 22, Wrestling Inc. highlights the highs and lows of the iconic event. "People will watch this match and say 'hell yeah.' I am people." The legendary hardcore match between Edge and Mick Foley still stands out as a fan favorite. However, the Undertaker's uneventful Streak match with Mark Henry and the crowd's reaction to John Cena's Chicago mobster entrance were less received. Also remembered fondly is Rey Mysterio's tribute to Eddie Guerrero, capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
John Cena is all in for his heel turn in WWE. According to Triple H on the High Performance podcast, Cena embraced the pitch for a dramatic character shift despite it being his first heel turn in 22 years. "That’s bold, but I fcking love it,"* Cena said, relishing the challenge of making fans despise his character.
Former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn recently shared her experiences with bullying and hazing during her tenure in WWE. In a conversation with MuscleManMalcolm, Kaitlyn admitted, "Sometimes I got bullied a little bit when I was new... I went through a little bit of hazing and bullying from some of the divas." Despite this, she still expressed openness towards a Royal Rumble return.
AEW News and Rumors & Updates
Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has sparked speculation about a possible move to WWE, following an intriguing Instagram post and her extended absence from AEW. Reports suggest her AEW contract is due to expire this summer. "Even within AEW, they feel she is going to WWE," said Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio. However, PWInsider counters that May still has "significant time" left on her AEW deal.
The AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 is officially set to take place at The O2 Arena in London, as announced by AEW President Tony Khan. Alongside, AEW will also mark its first appearance in Scotland with episodes of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision at The OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Tickets for both events go live on May 2. "Fans can expect the fallout from All In Texas and NJPW's G1 Climax tournament," Khan stated.
AEW has trademarked Spring Breakthru for tonight’s Dynamite that will see it surpass WCW Nitro’s episode count, with heavy-hitting matches on the cards. Additionally, they've filed to trademark AEW Summer Blockbuster, hinting at another imminent seasonal special.
